Description:
The R251DR is a 28Vdc solid state Alternator Controller (Voltage Regulator) designed for use with 24Vdc aircraft alternators. This unit provides Voltage Regulation, Field induction protection, and self-protecting Field-to-ground short protection, as well as an on-unit Field Fault/Function indicator. The unit will turn itself off and turn on a RED light if it senses that the alternator field or field wire is shorted to ground. When the ground fault is removed or repaired, the unit with come back on line (with a RED light Off) once the alternator switch is cycled. Its mounting holes and wires and functions are fully compatible with the Cessna, etc, equivalent units. All the other units that the R251DR replaces lack the important self protection and fault indication that this unit provides.In the twin engine application of Cessna 310, 320, Piper PA31-300,310,325, Beech 55, 95 and other aircraft that use the Delco-Remy 9000591, the R251Dr provides the best value because unlike the Delco unit, an alternator fiell ground fault will not damage this unit.
